Appleton Public Library: Keep the Children’s section organized by assisting with cart ordering and/or shelving. Shelving involves pushing a cart, placing items in order, and tidying books. Cart ordering involves arranging items on carts, and can be done while seated. Minimum of one 2-hour hour shift per week is requested, with shifts available mornings, afternoons, and evenings. Girls on the Run of Northeast Wisconsin: Seeks Fall 2024 coaches for elementary and middle schools in the Fox Valley. Lead fun lessons at Lakeside, Hortonville, Lakeview, Neenah, or Johnston schools. No running experience needed. Must complete background check, training, and commit to a 10-week season from Sept. 9 to Nov. 15. Minimum age is 16. Contact: Kathy, kathy.olson@girlsontherun.org
Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin: Is looking for volunteers to pack traditional tribal food boxes every other Wednesday through Dec. 4 in Appleton. Shifts are 8 to 10:45 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. to 2:15 p.m., with a brief orientation at the start. Each box contains perishable Indigenously sourced items. Contact: Andrew, aramsey@feedingamericawi.org
Fox Valley Literacy: Is looking for a volunteer driver for a newly arrived refugee family. They need transport to and from English class on Wednesday mornings. Pick up in Neenah at their home at 8:30 a.m., drop off in Appleton at 9 a.m., and/or return at 11 a.m. to pick them up for the return trip. Help this family overcome transportation barriers. Fox-Wolf Watershed Alliance: Seeks volunteers to Adopt-A-Launch. Visit a designated boat launch at least three times a year through Nov. 1 to check for invasive species, remove plants and litter, and report issues. Training provided. Contact: Chris, chris@fwwa.org
Journey Together Service Dog: Help socialize service dogs in training through this prison dog program that trains dogs to assist people with PTSD. Dogs are trained by inmates at Oshkosh Correctional Institution but need public exposure. Volunteers take dogs to public places like stores, parks, and restaurants on a flexible schedule. Outagamie County Nutrition Program: Seeks meal site volunteers to provide meals to older adults in Appleton, Kaukauna, Seymour, and Hortonville. Duties include packing meals, setting tables, serving, and clean-up. YMCA of the Fox Cities: Seeks youth sports coaches for various YMCA locations. Coaches provide skill development in sports like baseball, basketball, flag football, soccer, tee-ball, track and field, and volleyball, while instilling values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility. Commitment is 2 to 6 hours per week for 6- to 8-week sessions on Saturdays and/or weeknights. Background check required.
