APPLETON - Appleton continues to stand out on a national scale, now being recognized as one of the most desirable cities in America to live in, according to a recent survey.

AgentAdvice , a resource that helps real estate agents grow their business, released a survey Thursday in which multiple metrics were used to determine what makes a city desirable to live in. Those metrics included: a city's average home size and price; violent and property crime rates per 100,000 population; and the number of high schools that rank in the top schools across America, among other factors.

The city of Appleton came in at No. 5 in the survey, receiving a score of 60.02 out of 100. AgentAdvice listed the following metrics to go along with its reasoning for Appleton's placement.

    • Median home price : $397,450
    • Average home square feet : 1,739
    • Number of attractions : 161
    • Number of best high schools : 21
