Lower personal, business income taxes take effect in Georgia
(The Center Square) — Several tax changes took effect on Monday, the start of fiscal 2025, including a decrease in Georgia's personal and corporate income tax rates. House Bill 1015 lowers Georgia's personal income tax rate to 5.39% from 5.49%, while HB 1023 sets the corporate income tax rate — previously 5.75% — to the same level as the personal rate. Westminster Christian eighth grader leaves massive impression on varsity baseball team
David Norris got the chance to play baseball for a high school that he wasn't quite yet a part. Norris was an eighth grader at Westminster Christian Academy this past spring when he was brought up to the varsity baseball team by coach Juan Ranero as an infielder and pitcher. He was one of four eighth graders to work with the already young high school roster during the 2024 season.
Macon mourns the loss of beloved singer Arthur 'Bo' Ponder at 77
MACON, Ga. (WGXA) -- Friends and family are remembering the life and legacy of Macon's Arthur "Bo," Ponder. The music artists died Saturday evening at the age of 77. Ponder worked professionally in the music business for 61 years as a singer, songwriter and recording artist. At 16 years-old Ponder landed center stage fulfilling a vacancy with the band, Johnny Jenkins & the Pine Toppers, after Otis Redding's departure to embark on a solo career. Ponder later became a recording artist and had a moderate hit record, “Dr. Strange Love”, under Phil Walden’s Capricorn label in 1969. Some of his other releases included; “My Love,” “Sexy Lady,” and “Baby I’m For Real.” Arthur also recorded as the Lead Singer for the group “Sideshow” that he formed in 1985.
