Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation announces over $575,000 in Spring Grants
The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation (“GLCF” or “Foundation”) has announced the recipients of its Spring 2024 competitive grants. This spring the GLCF received 79 applications for grant funding. The GLCF Distribution Committee carefully reviewed each application, resulting in over $519,000 awarded in competitive grants, plus over $55,000 in recommendations from our donor advised funds.

APPOMATTOX COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) - A man is in custody after a chase that started with a report of a robbery. Tuesday; the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office was called about a robbery in progress on Spanish Oaks Road. While on the way there, deputies were told the robber had stolen the victim’s truck and left. Deputies spotted the truck on Stonewall Road and began to chase the driver when he wouldn’t stop, according to the sheriff’s office.

Authorities have reported that on June 25, 2024, the Appomattox County Sheriff's Office received a complaint for a robbery in progress on Spanish Oaks Rd. While on the way to the incident, deputies were advised the suspect had stolen the victim's truck and left the scene. Deputies encountered the truck on Stonewall Rd and began to pursue when the driver would not stop. The pursuit went through Campbell County on 460 until the driver took the Campbell Ave exit into the City of Lynchburg and crashed.
