Have you ever driven past an historic old home and wondered what it looks like inside? Wouldn't you love to take a tour of the whole house? Thanks to real estate websites such as Zillow.com, it's easy to take a virtual tour of any house that goes on the market. Recently, I found several very old and beautiful homes that are currently listed for sale in north Alabama. Keep reading for a rare a peek inside these historic homes!

The "Public Inn" circa 1818, Huntsville

Now, this house has a history! Built in 1818, the house comes complete with its own historic marker. It was originally the "Public Inn" and is one of the few surviving houses in Huntsville from the Federalist Period. It was originally built at a different location then rolled on logs in 1927 to it's present location in downtown Huntsville. The interior decor makes the house looks surprisingly modern inside - but the historic home still has some old world touches such as the beautiful fireplaces and staircase while the exterior of the home retains it's original design exactly as it looked in 1818. The house is currently listed for $1.4 million by the prestigous Sotheby's International Realty. Check out the photos below from the listing on Zillow.com.

Historic Equestrian Estate circa 1829, Huntsville

This beautiful two story home was built in 1829 - almost 200 years ago! It's not just a home, it's an entire estate that includes 18.8 acres of land. Complete with a barn and stables, it's perfect for the equestrian! The home sits at the end of a picturesque long winding driveway that gives the home lots of privacy (see photos below). The interior of the house is beautifully decorated with elegant furnishings that complement the historic home. There are five fireplaces in the house that are absolutely gorgeous! The house is currently listed for slightly under $1.3 million. If you want to see more photos, visit the listing on Zillow.com.

    Richter-Tew House circa 1914, Cullman

This unique bungalow-style home was built by the Richter-Tew family in 1914 and is located in Cullman's historic district. The house was built in the arts and crafts era and retains the original exceptional craftsmanship throughout the home. The wood trim is absolutely gorgeous! The home has a cozy "lodge" atmosphere. I could definitely live here! Could you? The house is currently listed for $819,000. The full listing is on Zillow.com
