MACON, Ga. (WGXA) -- Friends and family are remembering the life and legacy of Macon's Arthur "Bo," Ponder. The music artists died Saturday evening at the age of 77. Ponder worked professionally in the music business for 61 years as a singer, songwriter and recording artist. At 16 years-old Ponder landed center stage fulfilling a vacancy with the band, Johnny Jenkins & the Pine Toppers, after Otis Redding's departure to embark on a solo career. Ponder later became a recording artist and had a moderate hit record, “Dr. Strange Love”, under Phil Walden’s Capricorn label in 1969. Some of his other releases included; “My Love,” “Sexy Lady,” and “Baby I’m For Real.” Arthur also recorded as the Lead Singer for the group “Sideshow” that he formed in 1985.
