There's a heat wave scourging the United States right now, and its latest victim is a big one: a skyscraper. The Boston Globe reports that a window pane on none other than the cursed 13th floor of a 31-story high-rise shattered due to the extreme temperatures, raining shards of glass onto the sidewalk below.

Update 6:14pm: Governor Hochul says she has deployed the NYS Police and other agencies to help in Oneida County. As the heat index rose and the potential for storms grew, a tornado has been confirmed in Rome, NY - just north of Utica. Photos from the scene show a church with its roof and steeple torn off, numerous downed trees and power lines, overturned vehicles - even a B-52 bomber on display at the Air Force base was moved by the strong winds.

A community is mourning the loss of one of their own after the severe storms that ripped through Central New York claimed a life. One person was killed in Canastota from the storm on Tuesday, July, according to village administrator Jeremy Ryan, who said most of the damage was along Barlow Street where a mandatory evacuation was issued.
