One dead after shootout at family gathering near elementary school in Shreveport
One person is dead after a shooting at a family gathering in central Shreveport near the campus of the now-closed Werner Park Elementary School. Police responded to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of Westover Road and Velva Street, and learned that a family gathering had been taking place near the intersection before the shooting. One victim was transported to the hospital in a private vehicle, where they were pronounced dead, police said.

Marshall PD seek information in morning shooting
MARSHALL — One person is dead and another injured following a shooting on Tuesday, the Marshall Police Department said. The shooting occurred on Lafayette Road and East Grand Avenue where one person has succumbed to their injuries and another remains in the hospital. Marshall PD is investigating the case and asks anyone with information to contact them at 903-935-4575. “Please respect the privacy of the grieving families as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. We ask our community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity or relevant information to the police department,” Marshall PD said.

It's no surprise that Shreveport has been in a battle against litter, earlier this year Shreveport Police Department announced they had made their first litter-related arrest. Lieutenant Governor Billy Nungesser, along with the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF), and Keep Louisiana Beautiful (KLB) are launching a statewide program to fight back against litter. Lt. Gov. Billy Nungesser says "We are ramping up litter enforcement in Louisiana with support from the State Police, Wildlife and Fisheries agents, and local law enforcement. It's important that we educate those guilty of littering and work together to keep Louisiana Beautiful."
