After day 2 of the Michigan PGA Women’s Open Jessica Welch still holds strong lead
THOMPSONVILLE - After day 2 of Michigan PGA Women’s Open Jessica Welch sits -11 with a 6-stroke lead ahead of the rest of the field. She came into day 2 of the tournament at -9 and was able to shoot 2 under on Tuesday. Welch had just one bogey all day and it came on the first hole, after that she only made par or birdie the rest of the way. She said after her round today that she wouldn’t miss the event for anything. “Once I found this event, I will not miss it. I plan it every year if even if it’s not humanly possible. I want to play in this event because the course is beautiful it’s so well run the weather is amazing, so this has become a definite stop for me.” Welch Said. We had a couple local athletes in action Anci Dy a Traverse City Native shot even today, equaling her score from yesterday and putting her tied for 5th on the leaderboard. She has played this event many times in her years of golfing.

(WWJ) A woman from Michigan's Upper Peninsula is facing up to 60 years in prison after entering a plea to murder, arson and other charges for setting a deadly house fire. Authorities say 57-year-old Jeffrey Grant died on November 22, 2021, after 43-year-old Hope Snyder of Kincheloe set his house on fire.
Man with 26 prior convictions sentenced in Manistee home invasion
A 47-year-old man was sentenced in Manistee County’s 19th Circuit Court on Monday. Lukas Schrader appeared in front of Judge David Thompson for sentencing on two charges. Schrader was charged with one felony count of third degree home invasion. The charge also included a habitual offender notice making the charge punishable by up to seven and a half years.
Fishing report for June 2
A mix of Chinook salmon, coho salmon, steelhead and lake trout were caught along the shelf at various depths. Depths included 80 to 140 feet of water and out to 180 to 220 feet of water when fishing 45 to 120 feet down. Spoons, flasher/fly combinations and meat rigs all worked well. On the pier, bowfin and freshwater drum were caught inside the harbor with lures, alewife and crawlers. On the lake side, a couple steelhead were caught while using spawn. Early morning and late-night bites seemed to be best.
