Man with 26 prior convictions sentenced in Manistee home invasion
A 47-year-old man was sentenced in Manistee County’s 19th Circuit Court on Monday. Lukas Schrader appeared in front of Judge David Thompson for sentencing on two charges. Schrader was charged with one felony count of third degree home invasion. The charge also included a habitual offender notice making the charge punishable by up to seven and a half years.

MANISTEE — Strong to severe storms are possible for tonight and tomorrow for the Manistee area. The NWS Storm Prediction Center has placed Manistee under a marginal risk (1 out of 5) for severe thunderstorms for both Monday and Tuesday as strong storms are expected to hit overnight from Monday into Tuesday and another round being possible Tuesday afternoon.

Fishing report for June 2
A mix of Chinook salmon, coho salmon, steelhead and lake trout were caught along the shelf at various depths. Depths included 80 to 140 feet of water and out to 180 to 220 feet of water when fishing 45 to 120 feet down. Spoons, flasher/fly combinations and meat rigs all worked well. On the pier, bowfin and freshwater drum were caught inside the harbor with lures, alewife and crawlers. On the lake side, a couple steelhead were caught while using spawn. Early morning and late-night bites seemed to be best.

MANISTEE — A crowd of around 250 adults are expected to fill the Wagoner Community Center between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. on July 3 for its annual Forest Festival Kickoff Party. The event consists of four hours of food, music and dancing that puts all those attending in the right frame of mind to enjoy the Manistee National Forest Festival in the following days. The Wagoner Community Center, located at 260 St. Mary Parkway in Manistee, has ample parking and easy access to the building.
