Man shot, killed by Catawba County officers while driving toward them
CONOVER, N.C. — A man was shot and killed while attempting to crash into officers with a Catawba County tactics team, the Catawba County Sheriff's Office said on Monday. Officers attempted to arrest Pierre Ramseur around 6 p.m. on Monday in the Elite Comfort Solutions parking lot on Farrington Street SW in Conover. Ramseur was wanted for second-degree kidnapping, robbery, larceny, communicating threats, and injury to personal property, according to the sheriff's office. He was also out on bond for a murder charge.

Litigation was filed Monday by the Justice for All Party, supporter of Cornel West for president, against the N.C. State Board of Elections by three Fayetteville residents. The lawsuit of plaintiffs Johnny Thomas Ortiz II, Jimmie Gregory Rogers Jr. and Weldon Murphy says the state board had “no legal authority” for its action and that the party met the 13,865-signature requirement of state law.
