Carroll Chamber Readies For Ridiculous Day, Live + Local, And Mini Golf In Depot Park On Thursday
Tomorrow (Thursday) marks a big day for the Carroll Chamber of Commerce and its affiliate group, the Carroll Young Professionals (CYP), as Ridiculous Day, Live + Local, and mini-golf coincide near the downtown district. The Ridiculous Day sale features stellar discounts and dozens of businesses throughout the community. Chamber staff will give away $35 in chamber bucks every half hour from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. To be eligible to win, participants must register using a ticket from one of the participating businesses, a list of which is included with this story on our website. CYP opens its mini-golf course in the Depot Centre Park at 5:30 p.m., where adults and kids can golf for just $5. Live + Local begins nearby at 6 p.m., featuring classic rock from Hap Hazard, who will be playing until 9 p.m. Live + Local is a BYOB-style event, meaning attendees can grab their coolers and lawn chairs to enjoy the free show. REMINDER: no glass containers and no hard liquor. The summer season features just two more Live + Locals after Thursday, Aug. 22 with Tony Bonhnenkamp and Sept. 19 with Mighty Mayhem.

Woman Charged With Stealing State Funds For Foster Kids To Make First Court Appearance Thursday
PIERRE, (KCCR) — The Iowa woman accused of stealing over one-point-eight million dollars intended for the care of foster children in South Dakota is scheduled to appear in court Thursday in Pierre to address those charges. South Dakota Attorney General Marty Jackley says 68-year-old Lonna Carroll has been indicted on two counts of Aggravated Grand Theft. Carroll is a former Department of Social Services employee who retired to Iowa last year. The South Dakota Legislatures’ Government Operations and Audit Committee is making a formal request to review the situation.
