Katie and Guy Richardson Selected as July Yard of the Month
The Jefferson Garden Club has announced its next Yard of the Month. Katie and Guy Richardson’s home at 608 South Chestnut Street is July’s honoree. In the front part of the lot are large beds of roses, miniature boxwoods, day lilies and hostas that were planted over 15 years ago. There are also corner pillars that have geraniums, and shrubs surround the front porch of the home that was built in 1912.

Area Fourth of July Celebrations are Open to the Public
The area will be full of fireworks celebrations on the Fourth of July. Starting in Buffalo Center where the Fire Department will have a display scheduled to begin at dusk or 9:30pm at Bison Field. Mason City Airport to hold ribbon-cutting for new terminal
(ABC 6 News-) A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new terminal at the Mason City Municipal Airport is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24 at 11:00 AM. Mental Health Call Leads To Road Closure Near Swan Lake Tuesday Night
No injuries were reported after a mental health call led to road closures Tuesday night west of Swan Lake State Park. According to the Carroll Police Department, law enforcement received a mental health call at approximately 10:23 p.m. The caller reported a subject was suicidal and had left their home in a vehicle with a handgun. Carroll County Sheriff’s Office deputies located the individual near the intersection of 220th Street and Mahogany Avenue south of Carroll a short time later. The subject refused to exit their vehicle, and law enforcement opted to close Grant Road/Mahogany Avenue from Brookdale to 220th Street out of an abundance of caution. Law enforcement negotiated with the individual for approximately 40 minutes before surrendering. The subject was transported to St. Anthony Regional Hospital for an evaluation. Officers cleared the scene around 11:30 p.m.

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) - The American Automobile Experience has received six classic cars from Metallica’s front man. James Hetfield, singer and songwriter for heavy metal band Metallica, is loaning his private six car collection to the car museum in Kearney. His classic cars came from the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles. Blueprint Engines and local Kearney donors reached out to the Los Angeles car museum and struck a deal to have Hetfield’s cars on loan for a year.
