KCPD: Motorcyclist dies after crash with a car
KANSAS CITY—One person died in an accident just before 6p.m. Friday in Kansas City. A motorcycle was westbound on Parvin Road, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino, A car was eastbound and turning left onto Belmont Ave when the motorcycle struck the passenger front fender. The motorcyclist was ejected and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased, according to DiMartino.
World War II Hero Jack Hamlin Has Died at Age 102
One of the Ozarks’ most beloved military heroes has died at the age of 102. Jack Hamlin, who was born on October 15, 1921, died Saturday morning in Springfield. Hamlin served in the U-S Coast Guard, and on D-Day, June 6, 1944, rescued wounded soldiers from the water when Allied forces invaded the beaches of Normandy, France.

Arkansas Sees Over 10 Inches of Rain from Hurricane Beryl and Missouri Cold Front
Little Rock, AR – The National Weather Service reports that Arkansas has experienced substantial rainfall due to the remnants of Hurricane Beryl on the 8th and 9th and a slow-moving cold front from Missouri on the 16th and 17th. This has resulted in precipitation totals over 10 inches in various locations, including Mountain View, Bull Shoals, and Conway.
The New England Patriots Will Trade Matthew Judon to the Kansas City Chiefs
Matthew Judon is coming off a full bicep tear that limited him to only four games in 2023. During those four games, Judon was ultra-productive. He recorded four sacks, five hits, and seven hurries in his limited time. Judon proved last year that he still has plenty left in the tank at 31 years old. Some have questioned whether Judon will be able to return to his old self in 2024. A full bicep tear is not an easy injury to overcome. Coupled with his contract expiring after the season, he looks like a prime trade candidate.

Arnold man takes first place in 'My Best Ride' photo contest
Earl Stephens of Arnold won the $100 top prize in the My Best Ride photo contest for his photo of a 1923 Ford T-bucket he bought in memory of his late father. Robin Potter of High Ridge took second place and $75, and Kevin Carle of Festus won the $50 third-place prize in the contest, sponsored by Grand Times, Leader Publications’ magazine for senior citizens. The contest was held in conjunction with the West Side Senior Expo set for 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, July 24, at Northwest High School, 6005 Cedar Hill Road, in Cedar Hill.
