The Kansas City, Missouri, Police Department says that around 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, emergency crews were called to the area of 9th and Chestnut Ave., two blocks east of Prospect between Independence Ave. and I-70, with reports of a shooting.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - Technical difficulties brought Worlds of Fun’s rollercoaster, The Mamba, to a halt over the weekend as riders were forced to deboard. Worlds of Fun tells KCTV5 News that unexpected ride stoppage is meant to keep riders safe as most are built with a computerized control system that monitors the conditions. If an unexpected condition occurs, the ride safely stops itself.

Angela Bates is the organizer and founder of the Nicodemus Historical Society. She has achieved the vision of a community organization that would collect, preserve, and interpret the history of Nicodemus in collections including historic photos, documents, and objects. Since 1988 when she first envisioned the organization, she was handed the preservation baton from her great cousin and former NFL football player Veryl Switzer. In 1996 her efforts to get Nicodemus designated a unit of the National Park Service were finally achieved. After 30 years of hard work, she continues to pursue efforts that contribute to her legacy as an honored steward of her hometown Nicodemus.

KCPD: Motorcyclist dies after crash with a car
KANSAS CITY—One person died in an accident just before 6p.m. Friday in Kansas City. A motorcycle was westbound on Parvin Road, according to KCPD Sergeant Phil DiMartino, A car was eastbound and turning left onto Belmont Ave when the motorcycle struck the passenger front fender. The motorcyclist was ejected and transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased, according to DiMartino.
