Houston-Area Arts Spaces Still Closed Weeks After Hurricane Beryl
Weeks after Hurricane Beryl brought storms and strong winds to Texas’ coastal region, art spaces in the Greater Houston Area remain closed. The hurricane first made landfall in Mexico and the Caribbean as a Category 5 storm. After crossing the Gulf of Mexico it was downgraded to a Category 1 as it hit the Southern Texas coast. Residents and businesses along the coast were affected with nearly 3 million customers losing power in the immediate aftermath of the storm.
HOUSTON MAN ARRESTED EARLY TUESDAY
A Houston man was arrested early Tuesday on drug charges. Brenham Police report that early Tuesday morning at 2:55, Officer Grayson Marburger observed a vehicle stalled in the lane of travel in the 2000 block of Highway 36 North. Contact was made with the driver, Jerry Restrepo, 20 of Houston. K-9 assistance was requested and Washington County Constable Rolling responded to the scene. The K-9 alerted on the vehicle at which time a probable cause search was conducted. Suspected narcotics were located inside the vehicle and Restrepo was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance. He was transported to the jail and booked in without incident.
