Texas crash leaves one dead, another seriously injured
PECOS, Texas — A head-on collision on FM 1053 near mile marker 384 resulted in one death and one serious injury Saturday morning. The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that the crash involved a 2015 Ford F-150 and a 2024 GMC Sierra. Donnavin Brown, a 21-year-old from Odessa, Texas, was driving the Ford F-150 southbound when his vehicle veered into the northbound lane. Nicholas Calloway, a 25-year-old from Houston, Texas, was driving the GMC Sierra and attempted to avoid the collision by moving into the southbound lane. However, Brown's vehicle returned to the southbound lane, striking Calloway's vehicle head-on. Calloway was pronounced dead at the scene by Justice of the Peace Braden. Brown sustained serious injuries and was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital.

HOUSTON — The Houston Health Department is giving away some free portable air conditioners to seniors, people with disabilities and caregivers of disabled children. LEAGUE CITY, Texas — The League City Police Department is honoring Sergeant Ross Haunschild for his 15 years of dedicated service. Sergeant Haunschild began his career with the department in May 2009, serving in various roles including Patrol Officer, Traffic Officer, Crash Team Investigator, Field Training Officer, Marine Patrol Officer, SWAT Officer, Community Impact Unit Detective, and TCOLE Instructor, according to a press release from the department.
