Franchisee to Bring a New Boba Tea Shop to Arden Arcade

Bay Area-based milk tea franchise Teaspoon is building a new store in Arden Arcade inside Loehmann’s Plaza at 2441 Fair Oaks Blvd. The site is anticipated to open in the late spring of 2024.

Franchisees Ahmed Farag and Hady Abou El Kheir hold a multi-unit development agreement with Teaspoon in mid 2022, which calls for a minimum of three locations throughout Northern California. Since then, the partners have opened shops in Folsom and Davis. Arden Arcade will be the third location on the agreement, although the partners are targeting ten markets, most of which are in the Greater Sacramento area.

Both franchisees transitioned from a career in the tech industry to franchise operators. Farag spent more than a decade at Microsoft Corp, and Abou El Kheir was a lead engineer at Facebook and an advisor for startup companies.

Teaspoon, a Los Altos-originated chain, has rapidly grown across the nation in the past few years. The chain distinguishes itself from other boba tea brands by serving trendsetting beverages using high-quality ingredients. Supported by a dedicated R&D team, Teaspoon blends classic American flavors with the richness of traditional milk tea with its classic menu and seasonal items.

Other local Teaspoon stores can be spotted in El Dorado Hills and Roseville, operated by different franchisees. The chain’s website also lists an Elk Grove store as “coming soon,” but does not specify an address.
