Witnesses reported the vehicle involved in a crash that killed two teenagers last month was going 100 miles per hour, according to a crash report filed with the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

The incident occurred on the morning of April 27, when a Dodge Durango crashed near the intersection of East 18th Street and South 2nd Avenue, colliding with both a tree and a house.

Two 15-year-olds, Milana Reeves and Eric Hopkins, were killed in the crash. Five other teenagers suffered serious injuries and were taken to area hospitals, and police later said they'd been in contact with an eighth teenager, who had minor injuries and left the scene of the crash before authorities arrived.

The crash remains under investigation as of May 20, according to Sioux Falls Police Department spokesman Sam Clemens on Monday.

Police have not publicly identified the driver of the car, and the report submitted to DPS only states the driver as "unknown." No charges have been filed in relation to the crash, although officials with the Minnehaha County State's Attorney's Office have said charges are a possibility.
