Sioux Falls is looking for community input as the city prepares for the next update to its comprehensive plan.

Shape Sioux Falls 2050 would be the first update to the plan since 2016, when the city adopted Shape Sioux Falls 2040.

The comprehensive plan outlines the goals and policies regarding how the city should expand, develop and grow in coming years.

A release from the city said that work on the plan is expected to take about 18 months, beginning with a public engagement phase.

Confluence, a consulting company hired by the city to work on the project, will hold a variety of in-person and online events, including open houses, interviews and surveys.

The first two in-person events will be held Sept. 9 at Ronning Library and Sept. 11 at Caille Library. Both events will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The community feedback will be used to draft a plan for review, expected in the second quarter of 2025.
