    Recap: South Dakota eliminated from Little League World Series with loss to New York

    South Dakota faces New York at 2 p.m. (CT) Saturday in a Little League World Series elimination game in Williamsport, Pennsylvania. ESPN will air the contest.

    South Dakota suffered a 2-1 defeat Wednesday against Florida, while New York dropped its opener Thursday versus Nevada. Follow here for live updates, analysis and commentary from Saturday's elimination game.

    FINAL: New York 6, South Dakota 3

    Kinnick Noble drilled an RBI single in the sixth to end on a solid note. It didn't come together for Sioux Falls in Williamsport, but what a run from this group.

    What an effort from New York hurler Jake Romero

    Things could've went off the rails after Romero loaded the bases with nobody down to start the game. But the New York pitcher rebounded for a nice outing. Final line: 5+ IP, 2 H, 3 R, 4 BB, 6 K. Romero threw 85 pitches, 44 for strikes.

    Bottom 5: (New York 6, South Dakota 2)

    New York adds some insurance with a swift start to open the frame. Back-to-back doubles via Jake Romero and Dean Scarangello plates one, followed by Dylan DeGaeta's RBI single. South Dakota's season slipping away now.

    Final line on South Dakota hurler Griff Sommer: 4 2/3 IP, 11 H, 6 R, 0 BB, 4 K. Sommer threw 79 pitches, 54 for strikes.

    Top 5: (New York 4, South Dakota 2)

    South Dakota gets one back on Sam Wurth's RBI single that scored August Vortherms. A small crack from New York pitcher Jake Romero.

    Bottom 4: (New York 4, South Dakota 1)

    New York erupts for a big inning after two were out with nobody on. Vincent Ruggiero scores on Stephen Grippo's RBI single, then Grippo crosses home on Nicholas McLean's run-scoring knock. A double via Peter Giaccio plates McLean, followed by a Chace Curro's run-scoring single to score Giaccio. All in all, New York strings together five straight two-out hits.

    Tough call went against South Dakota as well that would've stopped the bleeding.

    South Dakota on the board after a wild sequence. After Kinnick Noble walked, moved to second on a wild pitch and advanced to third on a fielder's choice, Noble scores on a wild pitch after batter Luke Fenton struck out. South Dakota finally breaks through.

    South Dakota turns a nice double play, shortstop Bode Biteler to second baseman Sully Krueger, then to first baseman Ryan Henry. South Dakota hanging tough. despite the traffic.
