Officials with the Sioux Falls Police Department are still investigating the shooting Sunday afternoon at Dunham Park, which left 29-year-old Joshau Allen dead and three others injured.

Those injured include a 27-year-old man who was shot in the legs and torso and a 40-year-old man who was shot in the face. Both are considered to have life-threatening injuries. A 26-year-old man was also shot in the shoulder.

SFPD spokesman Sam Clemens said Tuesday those involved all know each other, and the incident wasn’t random. However, Clemens said police didn’t have answers on whether the shooting was premeditated, gang-related, if Allen was a target, or why the group had gathered in the park.

Clemens said police don’t typically get updates from the hospital on the conditions of people injured in shootings like this one unless a person has died. He said the victims need to get better first before police or detectives can talk to them.

He encouraged people with tips on what took place at the park, which reopened Monday night, to contact CrimeStoppers or police.
