    South Dakota football narrowly drops game against FBS foe Wisconsin

    South Dakota football suffered its first loss of the season against FBS opponent Wisconsin, 27-13, in a game they were in until the fourth quarter.

    The Badgers jumped out to a 14-point lead and led 20-3 heading into the halftime break.

    The Coyotes were able to cut into the deficit, scoring 10 points in the third quarter and only allowing a field goal. South Dakota scored its first and only touchdown of the game in the third frame when Keyondray Jones-Logan broke free for a 35-yard score.

    South Dakota entered the fourth quarter trailing by only a touchdown, but the Coyotes defense was unable to stop the Badgers on a drive early in the fourth quarter. Wisconsin's Chez Mellusi scored his second touchdown of the day on a one-yard run to put the Badgers up 27-13.

    South Dakota quarterback Aidan Bouman completed 12 of his 23 passes for 114 yards. Charles Pierre Jr. led the team in rushing yards with 83 on 12 carries. Wisconsin quarterback Tyler Van Dyke ran the Badgers offense smoothly, completing 17 of his 27 passes amassing 214 passing yards and a touchdown.

    Up next USD will face Portland State in Oregon on Saturday, Sept. 14 at 3 p.m.
