    Last week brought plenty of impressive performances on the gridiron.

    Throughout the season, the Argus Leader will be picking finalists for its Athlete of the Week. The winner will be chosen by you. Vote now in the poll below:

    Louison Akkosi, WR, Lincoln

    Akkosi had an exceptional performance in Lincoln's Week 2 win over O'Gorman. Accumulating 180 yards on 10 receptions and scoring three touchdowns, he demonstrated great length, footwork, and athleticism, playing a crucial role in his team's offensive success.

    Aiden Bartmann, RB, West Central

    With 10 carries yielding 119 yards, Bartmann showcased his exceptional agility, vision, and strength, efficiently powering his team’s ground game. His ability to consistently gain substantial yardage on each carry was instrumental in West Central's bounce back win over Belle Fourche.

    Josiah Heinz, RB, Harrisburg

    Heinz had another outstanding performance this week, this time helping his Tigers to a 41-7 win over Washington. With 119 yards on just 9 carries and two touchdowns, Heinz displayed his explosive speed and exceptional playmaking ability. His efficient and powerful running led to significant yardage gains and directly accounted for a couple touchdowns.

    Boston Katzer, QB, Lennox

    Katzer delivered a fantastic performance in Friday’s 52-0 Lennox win over Custer. The senior completed 17 of 28 passes for 290 yards, but perhaps the most eye-popping number: he threw six touchdown passes. Katzer will continue to play a large part in Lennox's explosive offense and is a big reason why the Orioles could make a deep run in the playoffs.

    Brenner Konrad, QB/LB, Tea Area

    Konrad showcased his all-around ability in Tea's 39-7 win. He was nothing short of remarkable in the Titans win over Aberdeen Central: Konrad contributed defensively with 7 tackles and two sacks, while also making a significant impact on offense. He rushed for 108 yards and a touchdown while also throwing for 115 yards and throwing an additional two touchdowns.

    Lincoln Prins, QB, Sioux Falls Christian

    Prins had another stellar performance for Sioux Falls Christian, leading the Chargers to a 41-22 win over Rapid City Christian. Prins completed 12 passes for 219 yards. The senior quarterback also amassed another four touchdown passes In addition to his impressive passing performance, he added a rushing touchdown, further demonstrating his ability to make plays with his feet.

    Brody Schafer, QB, Lincoln

    Schafer is certainly a standout candidate for Athlete of the Week after his show-stealing performance against O'Gorman Friday. The sophomore quarterback showed an impressive poise against a dangerous O'Gorman defense, completing an impressive 26 of 30 passes for 313 yards and three touchdowns. Additionally, Schafer also added a crucial rushing touchdown, showcasing his ability to make plays in various facets of the game.

    Gus Scott, RB, Brandon Valley

    Scott posted impressive stats in Brandon Valley's huge 41-7 win over Rapid City Stevens. The senior tallied 185 yards on just 12 carries and two touchdowns — highlighting his explosive speed and ability to make significant gains on the ground. His dynamic rushing performance was crucial in driving his team’s offense and securing the the Lynx's second win of the season.
