Bald eagle found shot in the beak near Vienna undergoes surgery in eastern Missouri
A bald eagle is hopefully on the road to recovery after it’s found suffering from gunshot wounds in Maries County. The eagle was admitted to World Bird Sanctuary in Valley Park in mid-July with severe beak trauma and wounds to his left wing after it was found near Vienna. The nature of the bird’s injuries was consistent with gunshot wounds. Blood tests revealed the eagle is also suffering from lead poisoning, a condition that affects more than 75% of the bald eagles treated at the sanctuary.
