Republican vice presidential nominee JD Vance — Donald Trump’s running mate — will make campaign stops in Glendale and Cochise County this week.

Vance plans to arrive at the airport in Phoenix at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 31 then make a speech at 6 p.m. at a rally at the Arizona Christian University Event Center, 1 W. Firestorm Way, Building 1100 , in Glendale. He is expected to talk about economic and border policies. Doors open at 3 p.m. for the rally. Sign up for tickets .

Then early in the morning on Thursday, Aug. 1, Vance plans to visit the border at an unspecified location in Cochise County. The border visit does not appear to be open to the public.

“A Trump-Vance Administration will secure our border, begin the largest deportation operation in American history, and restore law and order to our country,” the campaign said in a press release on Tuesday.

Vance’s Arizona tour comes after the Arizona primary election on Tuesday, July 30. Trump made endorsements in key U.S. Senate and House races in Arizona, including Kari Lake for Senate and both Abe Hamadeh and Blake Masters for House.

Trump most recently visited Phoenix in June for an event with the political group Turning Point Action.

Arizona is considered a battleground state for the presidential and senate races. Candidates from both parties are expected to visit the state through November. Harris has a visit planned for Phoenix next week.

The Cook Political Report, an independent, nonpartisan newsletter that analyzes state, federal and presidential elections, places Arizona leaning Republican for president and Democratic for the senate, and labels Arizona Congressional Districts 1 and 6 as toss up races.
