Clocks ‘spring forward’ at 2 a.m.

Daylight Savings Time starts at Sunday morning.

It will be time to “spring forward” an hour at 2 a.m.

While many things like cell phones and computers automatically adjust the time, everyone will want to remember to change things like their stove and microwave clocks so it’s the same time regardless of where you are in your home.

Daylight savings time started in March 1918 as a way to save energy and get more use out of natural light. So, while everyone will lose an hour on sleep, it will not get dark as early.

The United States is one of 70 countries that participate in DST, although Hawaii and Arizona — with the exception of the Navajo Nation — do not participate in the practice.

American Samoa, Guam, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands also don’t observe daylight savings time.
