WNBA star Caitlin Clark recently spoke with media after the Indiana Fever's practice on Tuesday, sharing her thoughts on the league's 2024 Paris Olympics break.

The WNBA will go nearly one month without competition since a few league stars are chasing gold in Paris, France.

While WNBA fans were infuriated over the hiatus since they couldn't watch their favorite players compete on a nightly basis, players like Clark benefited from taking a step away from the hardwood.

Clark believes her time away from WNBA practice and games helped her take a mental break from basketball, giving her a refresh for the second half of the 2024 WNBA season.

"Probably the mental break, honestly," Clark said. "It’s so mentally and emotionally exhausting. The season and everything that goes along with it. Something I appreciate and I’m very thankful for. And, obviously, I’m physically exhausted too. I’ve been playing basketball for a year straight… I think the refresh from every standpoint is really healthy for myself and something that I needed.”

During the first half of the WNBA season, Clark averaged 17.1 points and 8.2 assists per game, leading the league in assists per game and establishing herself as an elite playmaker.

The rookie's last WNBA matchup was in Phoenix, Arizona, where she participated in the league's All-Star game. She finished that contest with four points and ten assists.

Clark was one of two rookies to make the prestigious roster, next to WNBA Rookie of the Year rival Chicago Sky rookie Angel Reese.

The spotlight has been on Clark and Reese all season, with many fans viewing the players as generational talents.

With that type of stamp on a player, there's bound to be immense media and fan attention. Millions of people have been following Clark's every move on and off the court for the past few months, so it's easy to understand the rookies take on her "mental break."
