Vice President Kamala Harris received a slew of endorsements from Republicans this week as a new group, “Republicans For Harris,” launched in Arizona.

“One of the biggest reasons I’m voting for Kamala Harris, and I would’ve voted for Joe Biden is that they’re not Donald Trump,” said Mesa Mayor John Giles , an elected Republican, during a presser.

Giles , who runs Arizona’s third largest city, has long been a staunch critic of Trump added:

And I think the time has come for us as Arizona Republicans to admit the obvious and to start saying the quiet part out loud, which is that our party’s nominee is not qualified for office, and we need to vote for the for the adult in the room. And that is Kamala Harris.

Ex-State Representative Robin Shaw, who is co-chair of Republicans for Harris also spoke at the presser and added, “We are here to send a clear message. Arizonans are rejecting Donald Trump and his failed leadership.”

“It is time to put partisan loyalties aside and vote for the leadership that will truly represent the people we want to be in the eyes of the world. Character matters,” Shaw argued.

Giles and Shaw are part of a large group of Republicans in Arizona, who are dissatisfied by Trump and Republicans like GOP senate candidate Kari Lake – who continue to claim the 2020 presidential election was stolen despite court after court debunking those claims.

MSNBC’s Steve Benen noted the other well-known Republicans who are endorsing Harris this year:

Republicans for Harris includes endorsements from former Trump White House officials Stephanie Grisham and Olivia Troye; former Secretaries Chuck Hagel and Ray LaHood; former Governors Jim Edgar, Bill Weld, and Christine Todd Whitman; former U.S. House members Rod Chandler, Tom Coleman, Dave Emery, Wayne Gilchrest, Jim Greenwood, Adam Kinzinger, John LeBoutillier, Susan Molinari, Jack Quinn, Denver Riggleman, Claudine Schneider, Christopher Shays, Peter Smith, Alan Steelman, David Trott, and Joe Walsh; and former GOP State Chair and State Senator Chris Vance, among others.
