Arizona Weather Force has issued a Severe Weather Statement effective now into September 7th, 2024

Zones Issued For: Flagstaff, Yavapai County, Kingman zones and Maricopa County.

Discussion: A ridge of high pressure remains parked over the Southwestern United States. Impulse circling around it will work with mid-level moisture to pop-up thunderstorms. The best area today (Friday 9-6-2024) will be the Western and Southern half of Maricopa County. Storms also could form through Gila later on and eventually bring some storms through Mesa’s forecast area overnight.

This statement will reflect what I said for today, however the main discussion is Saturday. Storms will form across the Flagstaff/Prescott/Chino Valley/Kingman forecast zones then, and likely will be the strongest of the day. Outflow and thunderstorm activity will be possible southward from them into the Northern half of Maricopa County that evening.

Additional wording will be available on Saturday morning if things change.

Sorry Tucson, you’re left out this time.

KEEP IN MIND: Monsoon events like this can mean you either get hit or missed by even a mile or so. Arizona Weather Force works on ‘zones’, not backyards.

As always, we take it one day at a time with these events

NOTE: Alerts are posted on here, be it a tornado watch, etc, and these alerts are issued from this office and nowhere else. At times, which is often, you will see an alert forecast posted on here that you do not see elsewhere.
