Arizona Weather Force has issued a Thunderstorm Watch effective Friday October 18th, 2024

Zones Issued For: Eastern half of Maricopa and Yavapai County … Pinal, Graham, Greenlee, Navaja, Gila, and Apache County …

Discussion: As stated yesterday, a cold upper-level low, the first of the season will be moving into the area. This will develop a frontal zone on Friday morning across West-Central Arizona and it will move eastward from there. Given the upper-divergence and instability, we will have more than isolated thunderstorms across the watch box. Some of the storms will contain strong winds and hail.

Target spots, Eastern Maricopa County and especially PAYSON.

Arizona Weather Force Thunderstorm Watches are issued during the final 12-24 hours of the event that is expected, considered the final forecast. This watch does in fact take place of the earlier issued Special Weather Statement.
