Severe weather impacts with monsoon thunderstorms for Southeastern Arizona on Monday

According to the Arizona Weatherman, The Southeastern section of Arizona will experience afternoon into early evening thunderstorms, with the potential for severe weather to impact the region depicted in the image below. This activity will kick off after 12 pm and increase in area coverage over the course of the day.

After noon, expect thunderstorms to initiate over the Mogollon Rim and Southern Arizona. The steering flow will be from the south, moving northward, and the convective activity will expand over the region throughout the afternoon and into the early evening. The indices are moderate to high and may include severe weather such as convective winds over 60 mph, hail up to one inch, and localized flooding.

The most significant flooding possibility, according to the model data, will be Southern Pima, Santa Cruz, Cochise, and Southern Graham Counties. Tucson is looking to be more in the vicinity than yesterday, and Nogales and Sierra Vista are looking to be in the crosshairs for the day.
