Lori Greminger has been appointed as the first director of the Trail Technician Program at Northwest Arkansas Community College (NWACC). Greminger has a background in trail construction, management, and education, with previous roles at the International Mountain Bicycling Association, TrailSpring, and The Peel Compton Foundation.

Megan Bolinder, Executive Director of the International Trades School for Trail Innovation, has expressed support for Greminger's appointment. Bolinder highlighted Greminger's dedication to the program and the potential growth under her leadership.

The Trail Technician Program at NWACC is an extension of the Bicycle Assembly and Repair Technician Program, launched in 2021. The program offers certificates in trail technician, management, construction, and community development. Its goal is to provide students with the skills to design, build, and maintain trails for the community's benefit.

The program's curriculum is being developed with partners such as American Trails, the Professional Trail Builders Association, the Trail Skills Project, The DIRTT Project, Trail Tools, and IMBA Europe. NWACC is also collaborating with local parks and outdoor organizations to offer students practical experience and job placement opportunities. Graduates are expected to contribute significantly to state and national trail systems.

The Trail Technician Program will start its Fall 2024 classes in September. For more information, contact Wendy Taylor at w3taylor@nwacc.edu or call 479-986-6608. Additional details and enrollment procedures are available on the NWACC website.
