Rescue teams are scrambling to save people as sudden flooding swamped parts of Arkansas, with reports suggesting houses are being swept away with people trapped inside.

Early morning storms and heavy rains have led to numerous road closures and emergency services conducting water rescue attempts. As much as 11 inches of rain fell near Yellville in central Marion County in the space of a couple of hours.

Baxter County Office of Emergency Management Director, David Stults, has revealed that county crews are assisting Marion County teams in Flippin and Yellville with swift water search and rescue operations due to flooding issues. Local reports suggest a bridge in the town has been washed away.

"The whole town of Yellville is flooded," said Adam Stewart in a video shared with FOX Weather. "Pretty bad out here right now."

Local outlet Branson News & Weather reported that nursing home Creekside Nursing Home in Yellville is being evacuated due to water rising to the height of patient beds.

Flooding warnings have been issued across the region. Locals have been urged not to attempt to cross roads covered in water.

Marion County Judge, Jason Stumph, has reported widespread flooding throughout the county. He stated that water is flowing over the bridge on Arkansas Highway 14 South near Yellville City Park and that Marion County Road 8060 is closed due to flooding.

"If you do not need to be out and about please stay home. We have flooding all over the county, downtown Flippin and Yellville both have major flooding," Judge Stumph told KTLO. He added that a bridge on Marion County Road is "gone".

Motorists are urged to exercise caution if they need to be out Wednesday morning. Some areas have reportedly received 2 to 6 inches of rain overnight.

The flooding in Arkansas comes as residents in Missouri have been left in crisis mode as they face the aftermath of yesterday's flash flooding in the region. Torrential rainfall led to flash floods in St. Louis, St. Charles and Jefferson counties.

The National Weather Service has warned there's more rain to come, issuing a flash flood alert for Cherokee County in southeastern Kansas, Jasper County in southwestern Missouri and Northern Newton County in southwestern Missouri.

According to KATV James Bryant, Blanchard Springs saw 7.65 inches of rain, Yellville 6.06, Flippin 6.50 and Heber Springs 5.89.
