‘Speech of the Night’: CNN’s Van Jones Praises ‘Incredibly Moving’ Storytelling From Sarah Huckabee Sanders

CNN political commentator Van Jone s praised Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders’s speech at the Republican National Convention on Tuesday night, calling it the “speech of the night” – despite Huckabee Sanders heavily attacking the media.

Huckabee Sanders “was incredibly compelling to me,” Jones said during CNN’s panel coverage of the RNC on Tuesday night, adding:

She told personal stories that landed, you know, there’s a sense of aggrievement, I think that, conservatives feel that liberal culture demeans them, attacks them, cancels them. She didn’t use rhetoric. She told a personal story, and it was moving and it was powerful. And I think having a southern storyteller to bring that stuff home worked really, really well for them. So I think she she gave the speech of the night.

Huckabee Sanders took a swipe at President Joe Biden during her speech, saying , “When I was President Trump’s White House press secretary, I got the chance to take my 4-year-old son up to ‘Bring Your Kid to Work Day, much like Jill now drags Joe to ‘Bring Your Husband to Work Day.’”

The real red meat from the Republican governor’s speech, however, came in the form of reminding the audience of arrows she took from the media while serving as Trump’s press secretary. Huckabee Sanders took particular aim at MSNBC hosts, one of whom she claimed said she was not fit to be a mother.

The speech ended with a standing ovation as she said, “Never have I been more proud than to stand with [Trump] right now, tonight. Not even an assassin’s bullet could stop him. God almighty intervened because America is one nation under God, and He is certainly not finished with President Trump.”
