FAYETTE, IOWA (July 3, 2024) — Upper Iowa University (UIU) has announced it has earned the 2024-2025 Military Friendly School designation. Institutions earning the Military Friendly School designation were evaluated using both public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. More than 1,800 schools participated in the 2024-2025 survey with 537 earning special awards for going above the standard.

QCA flooding affects more than just events
Flooding is impacting the QCA, and we’ve now reached major flood stage right before the Independence Day holiday. The Mississippi River’s level is currently at 18.3 feet at Lock and Dam 15, which is just beyond major flood stage, forcing the lock and dam to close for river traffic. National Weather Service hydrologists still project the river will crest at 20 feet over the weekend. The high water means no boating on the Mississippi River over the holiday.
