Charles City housing project getting over $10 million in federal tax creidts
DES MOINES, Iowa – A housing development in Charles City is sharing in more than $10 million in federal housing tax credits going to 10 projects in Iowa. The Iowa Finance Authority Board of Directors says more than $10.6 million will go do build and rehab 404 affordable rental homes. The money is going to projects in Burlington, Charles City, Davenport, Des Moines, Jefferson, Knoxville, Mount Pleasant, Oskaloosa and Spirit Lake.

BELLE PLAINE, Iowa (KCRG) - One of the biggest 4th of July events in Belle Plaine is parked in a new location. The Belle Plaine Car show is at Franklin Park instead of downtown this year. An eye doctor who serves northeast Iowa dreads being on call during the Fourth of July, as she says there’s always a case of someone being blinded by fireworks. Dr. Anna Kitzmann, an ophthalmologist with Gundersen Health in Decorah, says fireworks can cause devastating injuries to the hands, face and especially to the eyes.
