Claremont residents object to plan to load tallow in town
CLAREMONT, S.D.(Aberdeen Insider) — A plan to haul liquid beef tallow to Claremont and ship it out on rail cars has met substantial opposition. About 40 local residents attended a community meeting at the city hall on Thursday, July 11 and made it clear they aren’t keen on the idea. Their primary concern is that the tanker trucks hauling the tallow from DemKota Ranch Beef in Aberdeen to the rail line in Claremont will damage streets in town.

City to Purchase Social Media Archiving Service
The Madison City Commission approved the purchase of a product called Archive Social, during Monday’s commission meeting. Archive Social is a government compliance tool. That provides social media archiving, website archiving, and social media monitoring products. City Administrator Jameson Barreth said the product is needed to help the city comply with South Dakota open record laws.
McDonald’s returns to 24-hour service at some Sioux Falls locations
Around-the-clock McDonald’s hours are back. The restaurant has returned to 24-hour days Tuesday through Saturday at two Sioux Falls locations: 3200 S. Minnesota Ave. and 2416 W. 12th St. It’s the first time since 2020 for McDonald’s continual hours after they were discontinued during the COVID-19 pandemic.
YMCA CEO resigns, but will continue as Camp Leif Ericson director
Former Sioux Falls YMCA CEO Mike Murphy resigned from his position Friday, and development director Kadyn Wittman has taken over as interim CEO. Murphy will continue his role as director of Camp Leif Ericson and focus efforts there by rebuilding and restoring the camp after floods a few weeks ago damaged the site.
