ARLINGTON, Texas (BCH Sports) – In the beginning of the month, Optimum internet had a fallout with Diamond Sports group, the owners of Bally Sports. Because of that, Bally Sports Southwest, the exclusive TV right holder of the Texas Rangers, was removed from the service.

Diamond Sports Group filed for bankruptcy in 2023 but made an agreement to stream ranger games for the 2024 season. Optimum states that it remained open to negotiating with the Bally parent company, but quote, “despite this, they (Diamond Sports Group) still demand excessive fees to carry their channels.”

It’s a significant concern for the Texas Rangers ownership group because of drop in television revenue due to the prevention of fan viewership.

Glenn Picquet/Texas Rangers minority owner said, “Well, we’re working on it very hard, and we will have something resolved, I think, before the end of the year. We’re going to have to finish this season first and before next season starts, I really firmly believe, we’re going to have a better deal for the fans. I’m frustrated like everybody.”

The Dallas Stars concluded their relationship with Bally after the NHL season. It’ll take a while before the Rangers do the same.
