The field is set for the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby, and there is no shortage of power.

This year's slugfest will take place at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas on Monday, July 15. Three of MLB's top five home run leaders will participate, as well as some very familiar faces who swing a big bat.

Unfortunately, Blue Jays star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will not defend his crown in 2024. Previous Home Run Derby champion Pete Alonso will surely bring some energy to the competition.

The home crowd will go crazy for World Series champion Adolis Garcia, and there are a few MVP candidates in the mix, too.

The Sporting News has you covered with the complete list of participants below.

2024 MLB Home Run Derby participants

    Pete Alonso, Mets

Alonso is no stranger to the Home Run Derby, taking home the chain in 2019 and 2021. After a year off in 2023, the Polar Bear is back in 2024.

Alonso has 18 home runs as we near the All-Star break. His experience in the competition will only benefit him against a relatively new field of competitors.

    Alec Bohm, Phillies

Bohm isn't known for his power, but the Phillies 3B is enjoying a breakout season that resulted in an All-Star bid.

The 27-year-old's 11 home runs are the fewest of any player in the field, but his 30 doubles lead the entire Majors.

    Adolis Garcia, Rangers

The hometown crowd will be rocking for Rangers World Series champion Garcia.

"El Bombi" made a loud impact in Texas' postseason run last year, going five consecutive playoff games with a home run across the ALCS and World Series.

His bat hasn't been as hot this season, but he still has 17 home runs heading into the All-Star break.

    Gunnar Henderson, Orioles

Henderson has burst onto the scene as one of the best young players in baseball. The 23-year-old is an AL MVP candidate, and his 27 home runs are the most in the derby field and third-most in the majors, only trailing Aaron Judge (32) and Shohei Ohtani (28). That is ... not bad company.

    Teoscar Hernandez, Dodgers

Hernandez was the final Home Run Derby participant announced and the Dodgers outfielder has been swinging a hot bat.

He is not typically known as a home run hitter, but Hernandez is up to 19 dingers on the season — on pace for a career-high in his first season in Los Angeles.

    Marcell Ozuna, Braves

Ozuna has been one of the best power hitters in baseball throughout his entire career. The Braves DH has been mashing the ball this season, tallying 24 home runs. That is good for fourth-most in the majors, and his 75 RBIs lead the National League.

Coming off of a 40-home-run season last year, Ozuna's pop should make him one of the favorites to win the event.

    Jose Ramirez, Guardians

Ramirez has been one of the best hitters in baseball over the past six years, period. The Guardians third baseman is a six-time All-Star and four-time Silver Slugger who has been a perennial MVP candidate, even if he's never taken home the hardware.

He has 23 home runs already this season, tied for fifth-most in the majors.

    Bobby Witt Jr., Royals

Witt might be swinging with some extra motivation after the AL MVP candidate missed out on a starting All-Star spot. The 24-year-old has been on a tear this season, tallying an MLB-leading 122 hits and an American League-leading 25 doubles.

His 15 home runs are the second-fewest in the Derby field, but he certainly has enough power to do some damage in Arlington.
