MASON — The one this week in Arlington, Texas isn’t the only All-Star game on the diamond those in Southeast Ohio might be interested in.

With roughly a week left in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League regular season, the league held it’s annual All-Star game with a group of Copperheads participating. Taking part on the Red Team in an 11-8 loss to the Blue Team at Prasco Park in Mason, five different ‘Cheads saw action in the game.

Alex Ungar was the highlight of the group with the Sacred Heart product bringing in a .340 average and just under a .900 OPS into the night while Joey Canzoni and Trenton Neuer also represented Southern Ohio in the field. On the mound, Matthew Blanchard and Clay Clatterbaugh both tossed an inning in the loss.

Blanchard allowed two runs on two hits in his action while Clatterbaugh allowed one hit and struck one out in a scoreless inning of relief.

Ungar was the only hitter for the Red Team pick up multiple hits, going 2-3 at the plate with a pair of RBIs. Canzoni and Neuer failed to reach base in each of their two at-bats.

The star outfielder for the Copperheads started off the contest with an RBI single in the first before lining another RBI base knock in his final plate appearance in the fifth.
