Women’s Soccer drops a heartbreaker to Saint Vincent College in their season opener
LATROBE, Penn. – The Marietta College women's soccer team started the 2024 season with a tough 1-0 defeat to Saint Vincent College on Friday (Aug. 30) evening. The Pioneers begin the season at 0-1 and the Bearcats start at 1-0. Marietta had numerous scoring opportunities throughout the first half, but could not light up the scoreboard. The Pioneers outshot Saint Vincent 10-1 in the first half, including seven shots on goal, but both teams would go into intermission in a scoreless tie.

Man charged with homicide in shooting death of 20-year-old in Uniontown
PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A man is facing a list of charges, including criminal homicide, in connection with the shooting death of a 20-year-old man in Fayette County in March. In a news release on Friday, the Uniontown Police Department said Davon Hunter, 32, was arrested and charged in the deadly shooting of 20-year-old Jacob Wilson-Forcina in Uniontown. Wilson-Forcina was shot at a home on Murray Avenue during a gathering with other young people on March 26."From what I understand, it was some type of neighbor dispute or an argument ensued," Uniontown Police Lt. Tom Kolencik told KDKA-TV in March.Wilson-Forcina was one of six children and just a few days away from graduating high school when he was shot and killed.In Friday's news release, police said their investigation identified Hunter as a suspect in the case. Hunter is in the Fayette County Jail.

One of the highest-scoring local high school football games in recent memory had to end one way or another, so Highlands coach Matt Bonislawski decided enough was enough. “I don’t second guess. I went for two last week [in an overtime loss against Armstrong], and I would do it again,” Bonislawski said. “To be honest, if there was no kicking involved and 2-point conversions involved, we probably would still be playing. Tomcats fall to Redhawks in season opener
GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Thiel College women's soccer team dropped a non-conference game to the La Roche Redhawks, 3-0, Friday night at Alumni Stadium. In a game that did not actually kick off until 9:08 p.m., the first 15 minutes were scoreless. However, La Roche broke the deadlock in the 16th minute through Finnleigh Gould, who would score the first of her three goals. La Roche added a second in the 33rd minute, and capped of the scoring in the 69th minute.
