NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – Cathy Tusiani, wife of Yankees executive Michael Tusiani, died on Wednesday night in Westchester after a tree fell onto her car during a rain storm, authorities said.

The intense storm led to the closure of Main Street in Armonk as North Castle and Westchester County police investigated the fatal incident, which happened around 6 p.m.

“We do know that there is a fatality in Armonk that's being investigated,” Westchester County Executive George Latimer initially told 1010 WINS. “Apparently, a tree fell on a car with an individual inside."

The Yankees sent out a statement in the late afternoon on Thursday confirming reports that Tusiani was the victim of the accident.

"Words cannot capture the devastating impact that is being felt within the Yankees family after the sudden and tragic loss of Cathy Tusiani,” the team wrote.

“Cathy was beloved by our front office staffers, who were privileged to experience and bear witness to her kindness, intelligence, sense of humor, and great love for her husband, Michael, over the two-plus decades of dedicated service he has provided the Yankees organization and the Steinbrenner family,” the statement continued.

Michael serves as the senior vice president of partnerships for the team.

“As we share in the pain and grief with Michael, daughters Alexa and Julia, and the entire Tusiani family, the Yankees stand with them to offer our complete support and unconditional love as we navigate this unimaginable loss,” the Yankees concluded.
