Music At The Mid State Fair: Who’s On Stage?

A summer staple for students at San Luis Obispo High School and many in SLO county is visiting the annual Paso Robles Mid State Fair. The Mid State Fair runs from July 17 to 28 this year, and houses multiple sources of entertainment like animal showings, carnival rides, and concerts. The Mid State Fair has both free concerts and big name artists in the Chumash Grandstand Arena.
Sewage spill prompts beach water safety warning
Approximately 1,350 gallons of sewage spilled onto the street, with around 500 gallons recovered. – The City of Pismo Beach Utilities Department reported a sewage spill into a storm drain at the intersection of Morro Avenue and Ocean Blvd. An electrical failure caused a pump failure, leading to a mainline overflow. The incident began at 9:20 a.m. yesterday and was controlled by 9:47 a.m. Approximately 1,350 gallons of sewage spilled onto the street, with around 500 gallons recovered. Some sewage flowed across the street and into a storm drain that leads to the Pacific Ocean.

Firefly Aerospace launches rocket and lights up SoCal sky
Southern California got a look at another rocket launch that lit up the night sky.Firefly Aerospace launched its Alpha rocket from Vandenberg Space Force Base just after 9 p.m. Wednesday. The launch created a long, bright plume that streaked across the region for many to see.Firefly's "Noise of Summer" mission set previous launch dates for Monday and Tuesday, but each were pushed back.The mission carried a class of small satellites called CubeSats that were developed by universities and nonprofits through NASA's CubeSat Launch Initiative.Recently, Southern California has seen several bright spectacles in the sky thanks to rocket launches by SpaceX.
2 Powerball tickets worth about $400,000 sold in California
LOS ANGELES - Feeling lucky? Two Powerball lottery tickets worth just under $400,000 were sold in California during the July 3 drawing. According to California Lottery's website late Wednesday night, a ticket worth $397,355 was sold at Best Buy Liquor in Sanger and a second ticket of monetary value was sold at Rotten Robbie in Forestville, California.
Mountain lion struck and killed by car on 405 Freeway
A mountain lion was struck and killed on northbound lanes of the 405 Freeway on Thursday. It's unclear exactly when the crash occurred and what kind of vehicle struck the big cat, but a single orange cone could be seen lying next to the body in the center divider of the freeway in the Sepulveda Pass. Officials with the California Department of Fish and Wildlife were said to be heading to the area to pick up the mountain lion's body, according to the California Highway Patrol. Once they retrieve the body and run tests they will be able to determine if the big cat was tagged, according to Beth Pratt, the Regional Executive Director of the California National Wildlife Federation.
