    Philip Troost apparent winner by 60 votes in County Commission District 3 GOP Primary

    Philip Troost of Artesia was the likely winner in a close race for the Eddy Board of County Commissioners District 3 seat.

    Troost was leading challenger Justin Wilson by 60 votes during Tuesday's Republican Primary, according to unofficial voting results from the Eddy County Clerk's Office with all 13 precincts reporting.

    Troost had 672 votes compared to Wilson's 612 votes to replace incumbent Fred Beard who decided not to seek another term.

    There was no Democrat nominee in the Primary, meaning the winner of the GOP nomination would likely run unopposed for the post in the November General Election.

    Two other seats are on the Commission were unopposed in the Primary, as Hayley Klein,  executive director of the Artesia Chamber of Commerce, was unopposed to replace current Commissioner Jon Henry in District 2.

    Henry also serves as Artesia’s mayor and was running for State Rep. District 54 on the Republican primary ballot, where he was unopposed.

    District 5 Commissioner and Democrat Sarah Cordova was unopposed in the Primary and may not have an opponent in the November General Election.

    Patricia Carrasco was the apparent victor for Eddy County Treasurer in Tuesday's Republican Primary. She did not have any opposition and may not have an opponent in the November General Election.

    The Eddy County Commission is slated to canvass the June 4 unofficial results during a special meeting on June 14 said County Manager Roberta Gonzales.
