    Arthurdale New Deal Festival happening this weekend

    ARTHURDALE, W.Va. (WBOY) — Arthurdale is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a weekend festival.

    The 27th annual New Deal Festival will take place on Saturday from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and will include a craft show, an antique car show, face painting, live music, a petting zoo, food, contests and more.

    Benefit concert will raise money for WVU Cancer Prevention

    Historic buildings will also be open for those wanting to learn more about Arthurdale’s history.

    Arthurdale was a community built during the Great Depression to try to relieve the poverty of people in the area as part of the New Deal. The project was championed by First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt.

    Tickets are cash only and cost $10 for adults, $5 for kids aged 5-11 and children under four get in free. More information can be found on the festival website .
