Borel fire grows to more than 14,500 acres
The Borel Fire burning east of Bakersfield along Highway 178 grew to more than 14,500 acres Friday with evacuation orders in place for surrounding mountain communities. Fire crews have been able to keep the fire on the south side of Highway 178, the Sequoia National Forest said in a statement, even as the blaze "exhibited extreme fire behavior" on Thursday.
