ASBURY PARK, NJ – The weather for the fireworks display on the beach in Asbury Park could not have been better on Wednesday night. On a cool night in the beginning of July, the most comfortable outfit seemed to be a hoodie sweatshirt paired with shorts and flip-flops. Families packed the boardwalk while over a dozen boats sat just off the beach, watching the fireworks that started promptly at 9:00 PM.

Businesses along the boardwalk were jammed with customers in places like The Break and Low Dive , along with other establishments like Coney Waffle. The fireworks display, in anticipation of tomorrow's celebration of Independence Day, lasted for approximately 15 minutes and lit up the sky to the delight of the crowd on the boardwalk. There was a diverse cross-section of people from Asbury Park and the rest of Monmouth County.

John Stevens of Howell attended with his wife and two children, stating, “We come every year for the fireworks in Asbury Park because the atmosphere is really enjoyable, and the area is very clean.”

Also in attendance at the fireworks was NFL quarterback Kenny Pickett, an Ocean Township native who has played starting quarterback for the Steelers over the last two years and will soon be playing for the Philadelphia Eagles.
