ASBURY PARK, NJ - The City of Asbury Park has partnered with Veo Micromobility to introduce 250 rideshare scooters to the community, available for riders aged 18 and older. Launched during Memorial Day weekend, the program features a mixed fleet of vehicles stationed at over 50 designated parking locations across the city.

June marked a significant milestone with Asbury Park residents and visitors taking nearly 18,000 scooter trips, covering a total of over 24,000 miles. This initiative has notably alleviated parking demand and reduced the number of cars on the streets.

Veo's fleet includes both classic standing scooters and a new seated model, which has proven popular across diverse age groups and abilities. Over 60% of all scooter trips in June were made on the seated scooters, which feature a throttle, large tires, and a low center of gravity.

Scooters are accessible from 5am to 10pm and can be located using the free VeoRide app. Riders can scan a QR code via the app to unlock a scooter for $1, with an additional charge of $0.39 per minute for the duration of the trip. Upon completing a ride, scooters must be parked in designated areas marked by Veo signs and white parking boxes. Riders must also confirm proper parking by taking a photo within the app.

To ensure safety, scooter speeds are capped at 12 mph, with slower speed zones in areas with high pedestrian activity, outdoor dining, and city parks. No-ride zones are established along the Asbury Park Boardwalk and certain park areas.

The Veo Access program offers reduced fares for qualifying riders. For more information and to apply, visit www.veoride.com/veo-access .

“Veo is proud to partner with the City of Asbury Park to bring this essential service back to the community, providing residents and visitors a fun, safe and convenient travel option for short trips around town,” said Alex Keating, Veo’s Head of Policy and Partnerships. “With a mixed fleet of both seated and standing scooters, Veo looks forward to offering an inclusive sustainable transportation option on the Jersey Shore for years to come.”

Deputy Mayor Amy Quinn expressed enthusiasm about the program's impact. “We are thrilled to see the Asbury Park community taking advantage of the new scooter share program and Veo’s reduced fare initiative. The program provides an affordable and eco-friendly transportation option to support both recreation and everyday needs. We are grateful to Veo for making reduced fares available, ensuring accessibility for all our residents.”
