    Asbury Park Kicks Off Free Summer Movie Series on August 1

    ASBURY PARK, NJ - The City of Asbury Park’s Department of Community & Cultural Affairs is excited to announce the start of its free summer movie series, beginning with a screening of "Monsters University" in Springwood Park on Thursday, August 1, 2024. This series is open to all ages, featuring outdoor showings in both Sunset Park and Springwood Park, weather permitting. Movies will begin at 8 PM or at dusk, and attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the films. Complimentary popcorn and beverages will be provided.

    Cassandra Dickerson, the Community & Cultural Affairs Director and Community Development Block Grant Administrator, expressed enthusiasm for the return of the popular series. She highlighted how the events demonstrate the positive impact of Community Development Block Grant funding on Asbury Park residents.

    Councilmember Yvonne Clayton also shared her excitement, noting that the summer movie series is a wonderful opportunity for residents to enjoy free, family-friendly activities in the city's scenic parks. She invited residents of all ages to come out and experience the joy of watching movies together with family, friends, and neighbors.

    The 2024 City of Asbury Park Summer Movie Series schedule includes:
    - Thursday, August 1: "Monsters University" in Springwood Park
    - Thursday, August 15: "Encanto" in Sunset Park
    - Thursday, August 29: "Zookeeper" in Springwood Park
